Intro & Outros
More about the project...
This includes the intro and outro bumpers that are used for multiple content pieces for both the Vancouver Canucks and the Vancouver Warriors. Furthermore, some of the bumpers are more complex than others. So, some are playing before a highlight compilation, while the more complex are for series based content. For example, you can find these on display with other portfolio pieces across this site.
For the bumpers, I am responsible for the creation of the examples that I have listed on this page. When content was produced for the team, I was solely responsible for the motion graphics aspect of it. This means all the graphics that animate in and over top of the videos or photos. With that in mind, that usually means creating lower third content as the bumpers.

Personal goals for the project...
Taking on this project was a big opportunity. I had the chance to improve my motion design skills. With the tasks to create a lot of different types of bumpers and lower thirds, I could test out different styles and techniques. Coming out of this can add to my overall skill set. My goal is to learn quick animations that have lots of energy. Also, I want to learn more clean methods on transitions. Furthermore, it is a bumper or lower third, meaning either its transitioning into another clip or needs to transition in or out solo.
Animations. Looking at other successful sports content on social media, they always have fast-paced, high energy graphics. I take on this goal by studying their content frame by frame, trying to figure out what they did with the pieces and their motion. I then test out different effects built into After Effects and play with the settings to produce effective effects.
Transitions. Just like stated above I follow these sports accounts and learn their methods frame by frame. If I didn’t know something, I look for help either from YouTube or Udemy. Finally, with practice and repetition, I evolve the transitions to fit their respected videos and overall content theme.
At the end of the day, my goals were met. The projects had high energy animations on the bumpers and lower thirds, and highly effective transitions. The consumer is engaging with the content. Also, with my knowledge from using Adobe Audition, I can amplify effects with audio, to help build engaging content.
